Mission Statement

We Plan for Neighborhood Livability, Sustainable Communities, and Smart Development.

Long Range Planning deals with the long term planning and development goals for the city. We interact with local neighborhood and business groups, developers, and other community stakeholders to plan for an enhanced quality of life in Sacramento. Long Range is organized into smaller units as follows:

Citywide and Regional Planning - generally includes General Plan Elements/Updates, housing policy and implementation, data management, and participation in regional planning forums.

Community and Neighborhood Planning - generally includes focused updates to Community Plans and assistance in preparation of Strategic Neighborhood Action Plans.

Transportation Planning - generally includes transit village and transit-oriented development planning, management of the Mobility/Circulation Element of the General Plan Update, and other major transportation planning projects.

2030 General Plan - includes information and news pertaining to the new 2030 General Plan for the City of Sacramento.
